Food Trip Adventure #2

AMAZING CONES Pizza in a Cone

Location: Doña Hemady St., Gilmore

How to get there: LRT Gilmore

A small place adorned with bright, warm-colored chairs, counter, and wall designs that seats a maximum of 28 pax. Amazing Cones is a nice quiet place to hang out and relax with friends as it is located in a low traffic area.

The refrigerated pre-made cones are made of slightly sweetened soft tacos stuffed with pizza toppings depending on the flavor and mozzarella cheese. Imagine a slice of pizza rolled to form a cone.

The cones come in Original & Mini sizes. For quicky trials, we recommend the mini size. On the other hand, for longer satisfaction, you can go for the bigger-sized cones.

Original: 75 Php*

Mini: 28 Php*

*based on special toppings

An interesting thing about Amazing Cones is that you can identify the different flavors you ordered by the colored dot marks at the bottom of the cones! There’s a small chart in each table that indicates what color corresponds to what flavor.

What we ordered:

Sausage Rampage

Color code: Blue

It has a strong distinctive beefy taste which overpowered the flavors of the other fillings. Compared with the other flavors tasted, Sausage Rampage did not stand out.

For this, we give it: ♥

Supremo Italiano

Color code: Double blue

The mushrooms and tomato sauce toned down the taste of the Italian sausage. It also contained pepperoni bits, but you can’t recognize the taste that much.

Rating: ♥♥♥

Ragin’ Buffalo

Color code: Double red

It’s really grilled chicken mixed with spicy buffalo sauce, giving it a powerful, distinct taste. Out of three flavors tried, Ragin’ Buffalo’s spice tickled our taste buds the most.

Rating: ♥♥♥

Since there are a variety of flavors to choose from, we recommend ordering the set of Minis, which consists of 6 cones. It is best for sharing and trying out different flavors for the first time. When you’ve chosen the flavor of your choice, you can move on to the Original size.

For this foodtrip, the Leles just passed it by on our way to the convent and got instantly intrigued. Amazing Cones not only offers pizza cones, but also sweet cones, and fruit-flavored sundaes.

Food Trip Adventure #1

LITTLE TOKYO

Location: near Makati Cinema Square, Pasong Tamo, Makati City

How to get there: take jeep from MRT Magallanes station

Little Tokyo is composed of small Japanese food shops offering authentic Japanese food.

Our First Stop: Hana

What we ordered: Takoyaki

Price: 6pcs. for 100Php

Takoyakiya-san’s balls are served hot from his pan which he cooked fast yet they’re still heavenly and succulent.

Next: Kagura

What we ordered: Shrimp Okonomiyaki

Price: 240Php

Okonomiyakiya-san is a big fan of the Hanshin Tigers baseball team. His place is decorated with mementos and various merchandise of the famous team.

He cooks the okonomiyaki quick as he watches the game.

One order of hot, steaming okonomiyaki is exceptionally big that it can satisfy three leles at a time.

Next: Oishinbo

What we ordered: Pork Curry

Price: 280Php

The interior seemed like a traditional Japanese food shop. Hung on its walls are wooden blocks with the menu written in kanji.

The Pork Curry is again big enough to share (if you don’t have a big appetite). The brown sauce is thick, tasty, and spicy that will make you sweaaat. A cold glass of oolong cha is needed!

Last Stop: Hana (again)

What we ordered: Kakigori (ichigo, momo, budou flavor)

Price: 70Php

If you’re feeling hot, this is the best option to quench that internal heat. A spoonful of this will directly take you to heaven!

The kakigori may be served with or without milk, but Lelelove recommends having it with milk.

A fine way to end a meal. It’s really satisfying.

For a place offering such a variety, saying it’s “Little” is completely an understatement.

Watch out for Lelelove’s Little Tokyo Adventure Part 2!

nice weather~
